Car related Ipad/iPhone apps - while driving

So while Centrafuse and RideRunner are not yet ported for OS-X/iPhone OS, we can maybe list here what apps could be successfully used in a car while driving.

Generally apps that are meant to select and play media while jogging or on a treadmill or bike are the next best thing short of a fully fledged front end. Some remote control apps have a great overall design (display media info and big buttons like a front end), but they of course require another computer to be controlled by it.

Also, if you have suggestions about settings to avoid having to swipe from left to right everytime you want to access the iPad/iPhone (specially if it's charging while in the car, why would you need to logon?), and other battery, display and overall settings for in car use would be great to post here.




So what we have now?

It shows lyrics too, etc. Sounds like a great app, going to test it soon. Not sure if it's good for the iPad, but for the iPhone sounds great.

Also, not sure if it works for video, and it surely is not a front end with access to other functions (NAV, Pandora, etc.)...so that's it for now.

Better than that ugly iTunes interface I think.

I don't know how many awesome points I can award, but that post is awesome on so many levels. I must have that app and the llama that goes with it.

I tested the app, it works great! Too bad it does not look that good on the iPad...but it works just as fine.

Another great app: Beat the traffic HD...It's like TrafficCAMs for RR, only for the ipad and besides local CAMs, it displays maps too.

Another one designed specifically for driving, but it's simpler (less options on the settings, apparently) than the first one above. FluxTunes.

I thought I would add a couple to this list. I use Rev2.0 and Dashcommand for OBDII monitoring. The upcoming Dashcommand 2.0 looks amazing.

It's not an iPhone or iPad app, but definately useful in the car at the track.

Simple, but does the trick.
