am going to try and start simple first. ordered an 8' lilliput screen yesterday an it's on it's way. If i can get the iphone to mirror it display on it using screen splitter, that'll go a long way for me.
I had this weird idea awhile ago. Has anyone really explored voice recognition on the iphone? i mean, is there a program that lets me just start up the dialer or the calendar app by speaking into the bluetooth headset? that would be miles better than a touch screen while i'm driving
i used the apple iphone cables to output to an 8inch lilliput screen with scrn plitter. Darn things works for about 6 seconds then dies. I don't get it.

Looks like this works to output video -- controller wise I'm just going to use a scosche a2dp bluetooth 'dongle' and then get the stereo controller and mount it somewhere unseen/hidden for now.
I'll report back in a few days.
The schosche controller looks pretty cool. You get music control plus playlist and random song and it straps to the steering wheel, which is nice since I don't have buttons on mine. The dongle has a passthrough to allow for charging, which is nice.
I've been considering putting my iPod touch in my rear view mirror and this would allow it to effectively be a music player.
For VNC method, if you connect via Wi-Fi to the iPhone, wouldn't the iPhone in WiFi mode won't be able to connect to 3G for internet? If so, this kinda defeats the purpose of using the iPhone on external display if it can't access 3G on the road, wouldn't it?
I guess I need to try that. I don't think that is the case. What you do is run PDAnet on your iPhone, then connect to it with the iPod touch and I'm pretty sure it creates a hotspot in the car that connects to 3G.
Bonus - my little area of upstate New York just turned 3G! Color the AT&T map in just a little bit more!
Hey guys, just got an iphone through work. cant jailbreak it. any apps anyone know of that will clone/split a screen other than the 2 that require jailbreaking?
I like this idea, id like to connect my android phone to a 7" touch screen and control it from that actually..
Ipad is the only iOS device that can mirror the display without Jailbreaking. If you only want to watch movies, you don't need to JB. If your running version 4.3.3, its really simple.Quote:
