Jailbreak is your only option if you want full mirroring capabilities. And after the JB use "DisplayOut" to mirror. What version is your iPhone?
Sorry, when you said you couldn't jailbreak i thought that you meant you didn't know how to do it, not that you weren't allowed. In that case your best bet is to get an iPod and JB that. Looks like the only option I'm afraid.

The iPhone is already capable of display mirroring, it's just that crapple don't want to enable it. I'm sure when the the iPhone 5 comes out they probably say "if you don't have an iPhone 5.... Well then you don't have display mirroring". Apple like reserving features for future handsets. It makes them more appealing or sth
Hey guys i have the iphone4 running iOS 5.0.1 any way to mirror onto in dash stereo monitor now without jailbreaking it? I think the only cable i need is http://www.scosche.com/consumer-tech/product/2182 could be wrong though. I dont know much about audio stuff especially in cars. Appreciate any input. Thanks
This thread appears deceased...
It has been a year and a half with a couple of big ios changes...
...is there any change to this problem?
I am about to get an iPhone, will probably jailbreak it...but it would be easier without JB.
...of course as soon as I post this, I find this link http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4108
Apparently the 4S and later devices CAN mirror with the appropriate cable.

What about using something like this?
I'm likely going to try http://www.airparrot.com/ with a customer's mac, since they can't use Apple's airplay (2009 model MBP) - works with their iPad2 though.
Can only try them for 10mins though - so hopefully in that time it works before you're forced to buy it.
I want to hook up direct to a screen...no PC.
