Use PDAnet. It worked just fine for my Mac Mini on Leopard.
Just install PDAnet and follow the instructions from the Cydia page. Basically, you use the airport on your Mac to set up a wireless local network, then join it using your iPhone. After that, 'it just works' to give you net access.
No wire required. All Wifi.
u mean an ad-hock network via 2 nodes instead of using a hub/switch/router. anything that will use bluetooth? i have a ibook g4 1.2 1gb ddr that i picked up a bluetooth adapter for and will be installing today
and i dont just want to use it as a modem i would like to make/receive calls via the pc
Sorry, yes. Ad-hoc network.
It's WiFi. I don't think it can be done with BT, but I haven't researched it.
well... im new to mac's, i would say about 6hrs of playing but when i go to www.junefabrics.com/desktop to download it for the mac it only supports xp/vista 32 or 64bit then i found a pdanet 1.3 for mac on softpedia i think that is a .deb file... leopard doesnt know what to open it with and neither do i lol... btw i have my mcse, ccna, & a+ but it seems as if since i picked up a mac i feel like i should be riding the short bus... i cant even figure out how to access my damn shared drive on our network... damn apple damn them to hell
im not really sure, i was told by some of my mac only friends that its the **** and easy to use but i cant figure out how to do a damn thing... hell i was just trying to jot down some info really quick and it took me about 5min to find a txt editor... lol was trying to RC on the desktop and create new txt doc apparently not that easy
:pound: I've had this occur to me several times on the Mac. It's so simple it's not intuitive.
You DON'T NEED a desktop client to connect to PDAnet on your iPhone. It's all built in! You load it on the iPhone, run the app, connect to your ad-hoc Mac network and you are done.
Did you follow the instructions for setting up ad-hoc on the Mac? http://www.junefabrics.com/iphone/wifi_setup.php
no i didnt follow instruction on the setup for mac, i browsed over it and knew i needed pdanet so thats what i spent my time looking for lol. i also spent another 6hrs in front of the mac downloading codecs .component files for QT so by the end of last night i feel hella better about working with the mac...
thanks bugbyte you were a huge help as always :-)
