You can use any cable (s-video) if you use the universal dock, I've done this successfully on my OS3.0 iphone.

I am trying to make something like this. Going to hack up a regular iPhone charging dock and use some bondo. No way I am paying $150 for a piece of plastic (again - I paid like $200 for my double din bezel already).

Here's my iphone dock fabbed into my dash. first fab work ever so I will be refinishing this weekend to fix all the imperfections.

Do you have a case on your iPhone? Also it doesn't appear you connect the iPhone to anything?

Running Dynolicious on the iPhone in that photo. Rev would be more accurate, but need a Wireless OBD2 plug.

No, no case on my iPhone, and it's not connected to anything, because I play my music through the iPod underneath it. I can unplug the iPod and run the cable to the iPhone.
But now I've gotten a new iPhone I'm looking at replacing the iPod with my previous iPhone and mounting it in the car permanently.
