Cool, thanks-- I may do something similar-- is it obvious which are the right wires for the switch (my eee hasn't arrived yet)?

take the eee apart. locate the power switch. There are 5 (i think) different places where the power switch is soldered to the board. Touch two of them together with a wire, repeat until it turns on. Those are the two that you need to solder the external switch to.
Hey sevin7,
How is the GPS working on the eeepc? Is it slow? Laggy?
gps works great
Since this thread is all about Asus EeePC, I might as well share some of experience using it as a laptop. In Malaysia, all EeePC comes pre-loaded with Linux OS (Asus customised). To my surprises, it already have a "Voice Command" module installed. Though I didn't get a chance to test it myself but looking forward to it.
All the icons of the Linux is quite large & easy to navigate, but the disadvantages is that it doesn't have a touchscreen (easily compesated with Liliput). I'm still trying how to download the NLite Windows on the internet, can any gurus here give me some hint where I can download it ?
Thanks & Regards,
