hibernate...shut down...coffee isnt good for laptops

So I've stalked these forums on and off for like a year but the past month i have spent way too much time on here and i think its time i made a post. I'm looking to start a project and i have a spare laptop laying around due to my mother spilling coffee on it and trashing the keyboard. i happened to be 5 hours away and instead of toughing it out without a computer for a few days she just bought a new on. Free computer i thought id use for my first project. Ive watched the Mp3 car videos and i saw the one "hibernating you laptop with the cnx-p2140". My question to all of you is.. Hibernating vs. complete shut down? the reason i ask that is because is seems that my bios doesnt support hibernating much like the video. if someone can help me that would be awesome. i know ill think of more questions after i get this answer. Thanks guys!....and gals???? seems kinda like a guy thing i guess

he is right, you got a laptop means you have backup battery, standby is your best friend.
if you're going to use an inverter, just have to make sure that the inverter is off once your ignition is off, so you won't drain your car battery charging your laptop battery.
