Can recommend Archos 5 with Android, built in GPS, Bluetoot, FM, Wifi.

Android has plenty of apps (great GPS apps - Copilot, Igo Amigo, Ndrive and more to come (Navigon etc.) - no CarPC frontend but widgets achieve the same) and this one runs for hours on battery, has great screen quality and max 500 GB storage (or SD alternative).

Very happy with it now for 6 months.

the 500GB Archos 5 is almost twice the price of the SmartQ V7, and almost 3 times the price of the Clarion Mind... Plus its still only got a 4.8" Screen, which is a little small for me (and many others). I also heard that you have to pay extra to use many of its features.

    Back to my original question:
Has anyone gotten a good Nav software to run on an ARM-based linux system, like the SmartQ V7??

Good Nav sotware on (plain) linux? Sorry havent seen any the last five years. Some tried with Windows emulators but this is not really what you want, right?

Well Android is linux based and has good nav software. And for my Archos 500 GB I paid approx $419 in September. With less hard disk it is even cheaper and never twice of your first listing.

Okay 5 inch is on the limit. Bigger would be better but it is okay for navigation and music during your drive.

Thanks for the heads-up on the lack of linux nav software...

It looks like the SmartQ V7 can run android, and even has it pre-installed. However, what aftermarket GPS and software would work with it?? I'm not really familiar with any Android apps or accessories.

    Smartq V7 and GPS

I have GPS mapping software working on Smartq V7.
Navigation works 100%. Better than any GPS PNA around by far.
Use Google it will help you just ask questions.
