Hi.
I've been looking for a thing like a remote that i could use to turn on my laptop, it can be asleep, i heard that could be a problem too...
If you have any ideas just tell me please, oh btw, I can't mess around much with the circuits but I can spend up to $200.

If you have an alarm in your ride that has aux outputs, you can use the keyfob to trigger a relay to initiate startup of the PC.
This is what I do. On top of that I have my Fusion Brain sense that that line is hot and it will run a script to make sure my wifi is enabled so I can remote into it or transfer files from my desktop.Quote:

The only reason I ask is because this sounds like a great idea, but I know the M2-ATX will not turn on unless the IGN wire is hot. So my mind says you'd have to make a circuit that emulates itself as the IGN. But that sounds alot more complicated then it should be.
we87 - A relay can and will do just that.
It acts as a switch of a constant 12v line.
Well, You'd have to build a timer circuit with some caps that would keep the relay open for however long. Because an alarm AUX output just "pulses" and doesnt stay "latched" at all.... At least not on mine.
That all depends on you alarm. I have a viper system and i can set any aux to be momentary, stay on as long as the button is held, or latched (stays on till button is pressed again), or latched with IGN rest (stays on till button is pressed again or if the ignition is turned on then off).Quote:

I have a viper alarm as well, mine is the 5901. Do you know if this alarm will give me the same feature to latched until i press the aux again? And if so, will I still needed the relay to make this work?
