Just ordered 2 more cradles/docks from HP to put in my other cars! It's March Madness time!
The dock measurements are 6" wide x 4 1/2" tall
Not including the restng bar on the bottom which can be removed if necessary.
Think it's smaller than Double DIN.
I stream my Television using Orb in Media Player. Works just fine. Set the streaming speed on the Orb client for 200K. Doesn't drop out on the highway either.
Good idea about the dock/cradle dash mount. That'd be cool, mount the dock so the front where the Slate 500 rests is flush with the dash and the "L" support at the bottom protruding from the point where the Slate 500 rests against the back. Will require Velcro to hold the Slate from tippng forward though.

I'm pretty much at the crossroad of either building my own D525 in dash (if I can ever find a high res screen and multi touch layer) or just buying a HP slate.
Did you have any videos?
Only thing I'd even consider is forking out the dough for a Revosys. Other than an in-dash solution like that, the Slate 500 is an ideal mobile device. I loaded CF and everything I've tested so far works, but, I'm not a huge fan of the CF UI. For me at least, the Slate 500's Windows Touch accuracy serves its purpose. Icons for the apps I use while in the car like GPS, telephone/text/data, mp3, fm, etc can be situated in their own space on the desktop, far enough from everything else to make using on-screen touch access in Windows usable. The extra geography afforded by the Slate's 8.9" screen doesn't hurt either. Have not tried RR yet. Might be worthwhile to test "drive" it .....
Video, I'll get around to it soon, wish my posts didn't have to be approved by a moderator before they're able to go "live".

Questions:
Is it a true touchscreen where you can use your fingers to select on-screen stuff, or does it require a pen?
Edit: just saw some vid's about it - saw that, yes, you can use fingers or pen
When you put the Slate in it's dock, is it then connected to the power, usb's, etc? Meaning nothing else to plug into the Slate after it's in the dock?
Edit: I saw photo's of the dock itself and I only see a Headphone jack - is this a combo jack that does headphone & mic?
How did you mount the dock itself to the car's dash?

There are two USB ports on the dock. There is a power connector on the dock. There is an headphone/mic connector on the dock. I sometimes use a corded handsfree headset and have tested it with my voice/data connection made and received calls and the bluetooth or wired handsfree mic and speakers/earpieces all work fine.
Everything works when you plug the Slate 500 into the dock/cradle. USB GPS, USB Voice Data card, USB FM Stereo, everything USB and the power connector supplies the Slate 500 with juice.
You drop the Slate 500 into the cradle and go. Nothing else to connect.
I had a usb hub and ac inverter stashed behind the glove box. the USB hub provided additional USB ports , more than 2 are needed if you want to use voice data card, GPS and an FM radio (Internet radio would eliminate this need, but your data connection would need to remain active to use the radio and that can be costly.
How did you mount the dock itself to the car's dash?
Used a home speaker mount, wall/ceiling type. Very small and allows viewing angle adjustment.
