Well I cannot post pix cause I don't have the car it was a friend of mine and he currently lives in ny and I was only there for the holidays but as far as a demo that I can do... what kind of demo would u like me to put together... I am currently putting together a write up that I will post as soon as I complete it... it should be up here by tomorrow
Some steps showing / documenting how the install was accomplished would also be nice.
Basically, anything you can think of that will help other users accomplish the same result.
Did you guys see this
tab is mounted to the dash using the factory bezel the only thing we did was fabricate a swing arm holder as is shown in the video you (prodigalsun) posted in the other thread... we did this by using bondo reinforced fiberglass... we wrapped the tab in aluminum foil then layed the bondo over it to form a rough shape... from there it was a crap ton of sanding to get a good nice shape. we also made left it with lil tabs on the top and bottom of the holder to provide our swing out from the factory bezel... we then used a dremel tool to cut the factory bezel to the size of the the swing out holder... we mounted the holder into the bezel by with the tabs... to basically get what i mean hold a mini flag in your hand... the flag itself is the holder we fabricated the flag staff is the tabs we made into our holder and ur hand with the hold is factory bezel..
this holder is open on one side to slide the tab out... the other side has plug in for the charger... it is identical to the hold in the video posted in the other thread... it sits flush in the factory bezel... the tab was originally powered by the remote wire coming from the amp so when the car turned on the tab would be turned on and charged... we then changed the design when we noticed a spare cigarette lighter/car charging port in the interior of the arm rest compartment... to get to know what i mean look at pics of any 05-09 mustang arm rest... the arm rest compartment has a cigarette lighter/car charger hidden in it... so all we did was hook up the galaxy tab car charger into it and ran all the wiring through the inside of the console assembly and hidden from view...
this works the same way. when the car is turned on power is provided to the car charger and the tab turns on/ charges... there is no steering wheel intergration cause his 06 mustang doesnt have any steering wheel controls... but as i explained in an earlier post... the audio was the easiest part... all we did is buy an amp and a wiring harness for an aftermarket radio... u simply hook up the wiring harness to the factory wiring like u would with any aftermarket radio but instead of hookin it up to a radio run the wires to the output side of the amplifier, then simply but a headphone jack splitter and buy 2 headphone to rca cable and wire those to the input side of the amplifier... since the buttons are hidden once inside the dash we simply turned the volume on the galaxy tab all the way up and wired an equalizer w/ wireless remote to the amplifier as you would any aftermarket radio to control the volume...
the last piece of the puzzle was integration with the cars engine so that we could get readings and feedback from the car... luckily ebay and androids own app market helped with that... we found a bluetooth OBD II reader on ebay and bought an app from the android app market called torque... we simply leave the small bluetooth OBD II plugged in and sync it with the tab( a process you only have to do once) and bam you have all of your cars info displayed on your tab in real time... including all your gauges... car temp... mph.... ect... and the best part is that with this we can also see any codes that come up and clear them if need be... so we could kiss that stupid check engine light goodbye lol.... thats about it if u have anymore questions feel free to ask...
