You can try the tasker app (there is trial for that, I think), but it may not work for all android devices running gingerbread for turning the screen off, it works for my nook color though.

    No idea about win ce.

There are bluetooth modules and jacks that can be used for a more wireless experience such as the Scosche UBRH or the miccus Bluebridge mini Jack

I would use Tasker to do some minor programming for for stuff like on/off. I'm considering working with an android developer to create a truly custom audio/visual/navigation/etc experience in one of my older cars.

Yep I use tasker for mine and honestly my tab always stays on. All I do is have the display timeout and I turn off BT and Wifi. I have mine timed to timeout and wakeup the display. I can text it also outside of routine and it will wakeup and adjust the timeout then text me back once the timeout has been adjusted.

I have been planning an Android powered CarPC for a while and consider myself to be quite the Android expert. There is a very simple solution to the power on/off issue. An app called Tasker. It costs $3 i think in the market. With the app you can set up customized profiles to automate any number of tasks, for this situation you could do something like this...

    if charging
    then display to 100% etc...
    else (not charging)
    set display timeout
    power off or sleep mode

You could even add the ability to when charging is detected(car on) it wakes up, launches the GPS app and prompts you for a destination. All without touching anything. I absolutely love this app and it has limitless possibilities for an in-dash solution. If you need some help making profiles just pm me, i'd be happy to help.

Now that Android 4.1 is on its way, especially the Nexus 7 tablet, they introduced a new feature for USB audio out to a DAC I believe is the correct terminology, is there any devices on the market that would work like the pic I posted?
