Hello..sory if this has been asked before. Maybe I didnt use the right search terms.
I have an old Dell Inspiron 1300 laptop(broken screen) that I want to use as a car pc. Is there a way to get the display to permanently output to an external monitor/lillyput without pressing Fn+F8? I would hate to have to press those buttons each time because I plan on installing this laptop in the trunk.

Have you looked in the BIOS setup?
Some laptop models have a means of setting the primary video output.
Thats exactly what I was thinking. But unfortunately, i can't change the settings from my BIOS. I'm about to search the FAQ's, and Wiki some more. Thanks a bunch for the advice

I figured it out. However if I were to disconnect the laptop, the settings would go back to default. Took all of 5 seconds to set up. For anyone that wants to know...I have a Dell and these are the steps I followed.
1. Right click on empty desktop space
2. Click settings tab
3. Click on disabled monitor( #2 in my case)
4. Check the box labeled.."Extend my Windows desktop onto this monitor"
Does this setup remain effective through power cycle?
Yes it does work..still without any issues. It has not switched back to laptop screen yet. The only time it switched back was when I unplugged the external monitor and powered up the laptop.Quote:
