I see how everyone on here puts together computers for their car.... but why not just buy a used laptop off ebay for 200 bucks? The case would be even smaller, and fit very easily underneath a car seat. Then just get one of those 7" screens to put in your dash and your set.

Gay? Seems more sleek to me.. unless you are wanting to show off the case and have one of those neon rigs for your trunk, the more hidden the better imo.
You think you got all the answers eh? Take a look at what the specs are for the pc's we have, what we add to them, and then ask yourself why we dont just use a 200 dollar laptop from ebay.

How are you going to turn it on and off? There's solutions out there, but they take away form the decidedly sleek look of it.Originally Posted by dotjosh

But hey. Go with it if that's what you want.

You misunderstand ibrennan. Being from New Jersey, anything that (s)he doesn't agree with is "gay". Its a Jersey thing.

Speed? I think my p4 2.4 ghz 256mb, 60gb hdd compaq laptop bought without lcd for 100$ will be a lil faster thn the epia mb.
Auto-on? With a lil knowledge of electronics this can be done easily
Expandability? USB - Firewire enough for me. But OK, you win(maybe :P )
So I think its indeed not one size fits all
Just an example of how sleek a laptop integration can be... http://www.mattlocked-carputer.tk
I Used my old toshiba satellite P III 800Mhz with 256 MB, 8 GB internal HDD, an external USB 2.0 60 GB HDD, bluetooth, Sirf GPS, mini Keyboard, 802.11G wi-fi adaptor, joypad... and whatever I may like... With a skimmed OS like windows 2000 pro. you can run virtually anything on it... Besides easier and lower power supply/consumption... less trunk space required... and easier roll back in case you change your car....
