The nVidia will.
I don't believe the Intel will.
I don't know about the ATI.
I am helping my friend with a Car PC based on a laptop and he has looked on ebay for a damaged laptop we can use. He really wants 800 x 480 since seeing it running on my Xenarc screen.
I was wondering which laptop graphics chipsets can run at this resolution? A look through ebay has turn up a few Sony Vaio laptops without screens. The ebay selection of laptops have a few different graphics chipsets.
Which of the following would be his best bet for 800 x 480?
- nVIDIA GeForce4 420 Go (16Mb)
- ATI Radeon IGP 345M (Up to 128Mb)
- Intel Extreme Graphics 855 (32Mb)
- ATI Mobility Radeon 7500C (32Mb)
The Nvidia based laptop is an Athlon 2200+ where as the Radeon ones are P4 2.6Ghz + CPUs...
Anyone got 800x480 workng on a radeon mobile chipset then?
i have a sony viao and it has the ATI graphics and it ran great with my lilliput.. although i had to use powerstrip.
hardware: 7"lilli mx440 pci,M10k/160GB/slim-slot DVD-CDRW/Hifonics ZEUS ZX8000,CNX1260,DConnex GPS,Powermate,usb WiFi
software: XP Home/Media Car/RoadRunner/IGuidance 2.0
Car: 2002 Ford Focus SVT
My shuttle Car PC uses the Nvidia Nforce 2 chipset and that displays 800 x 480 no problems. Confusing!
Don't mind if we have to use Powerstrip to achieve the resolution. The auction finishes very soon so I am keen to get some answers before it does.
the intel wont do it (at least I can't get it to)
Latop graphic chipsets are A LOT DIFFERENT from normal chipset. There's no guarantee for anything. Your chance is pretty slim.
My Sony Vaio did support that resolution though.
Thinking of going for this one with the Radeon IG345:
Any comments? Auction is about to close.
Ended up not getting the Sony Laptops - the price went to high.
Any opinions on this one:
