I have a few questions about putting a touchscreen into my car.
First off, my car-PC runs gnu/linux and Im going to write the interface in Qt (a widget set for XFree) so I need one that will work with Linux. Can you get transparent touch screens, which the OS doesnt know anything about? Its just like having a mouse on the screen?
Secondly, I should try and get one which accepts DC power and then I can just hook it right up to the car battery right?
Lastly, anybody know where I can get the above, in 6"-8" dimensions for cheap?
Sorry if this is a bit basic, Im having trouble finding information.
Thanks for any replies
Well not cheap, but this is exactly what you are looking for:
Xenarc 7" VGA touchscreen
Look to spend about $550 on that.
Most touch screens emulate mouse movement and clicks. You could write your own software though that would talk directly to the touchscreen w/o emulating the mouse.
