Does anyone know where the temperatur sensor is on the K301 (making it work in cold)

    Hi.
I have the k301 touchscreen, which is equivalent to the MTSVO-SC sold in the mp3car store. As owners of this screen know, this screen refuses to open when it is under -5 degree celsius due to cold temperature protection circuitry. This is very frustrating for me because my carpc cannot be used in the winter (even though it boots up fine). So I am looking for ways to try to trick or force this screen to work in the cold. In my previous posts, I have posted a picture of the internals of the screen, hoping that someone could identify the chip which senses temperature, so that maybe I can figure out a way around this. I have also tried building an external heater. So far, no luck.

So I was wondering maybe someone knows in general where the location of the temperature sensor is? Preferably, I would like to know the exact chip which senses the temperature. However, if anyone knows in general where it is, that would be extremely helpful as well. I am going to try building an interior heater. It is very difficult to build a custom fan based heater for the interior of this unit since there is not much room. So if I knew the approximate location of the temperature sensor, maybe I could just put a simple 10 watt resistor nearby (not touching anything of course, the resistor would get too hot).

I really REALLY want to try for a way to get this unit working in the winter.

    Any ideas?

LCDs don't work well in cold temps so I would work on actually heating the screen rather than try and trick it. Besides, are you SURE it has a temp sensor on it? Perhaps it just doesn't want to turn on in the cold. That is why I say work on a way to heat the whole LCD so it can be used.

If it has a temp sensor then I would look for a DS18S20 or DS18B20 on the controller somewhere.

Alot of people have their lcd's working in -20C, its just a little dim. Even the aftermarket screens work in the cold. I've already tried to build a heater to heat the entire unit, but it was just too inefficient. And yes, I'm sure there is a temp sensor. In the cold, the unit will just beep when you press the open button and the led lights flash until the temperature is high enough, therefore suggesting an electronic temperature sensor.
