I followed the above but the settings do not seem to save when the computer restarts. The bios keeps switching back to crt as display type.
did it work for you?
It's that well loved 800x480 problem...![]()
I emailed Jetway about this, and here's the (as yet untested by me) solution. Posted in case anyone is in dire need!
BIOS > Advanced Chipset Features > AGP timing settings > Select Display Device > LCD Panel Type > 08
Should then give you native 800x480 in Windows (XP) at least. Let me know if it works for you. This may also work for anyone using a real VIA EPIA board with a similar chipset.

anyone have info on the various settings possibilities for the LCD PANEL TYPE ?
i just tried booting with the monitor both off and on and it made no diff.
However, I did download the latest unichrome drivers and now, when I restart, the bios switches to "CRT+LCD" mode.. which still doesn't give me any 800x480 options.
Oh wells.. until a solution is found, I'm going to run at 600x480 which is much more bearable to my eyes than 800x600.
Excuse me I wasn't precise enough.
I was talkng about the stuation whre you got a LCD and a TV pluged into the mobo.
The bios has to be LCD+TV (LCD means VGA and TV means composite) but if you reboot with your LCD turned off (means unpowerd, not in sleep mode), the bios won't detect the LCD and will be set to CRT+TV.
I have tried to remember tests I done several month ago so apologize if not exactly right.
Selecting LCD in the BIOS will not stay for me either. As soon as I boot into XP it gets set back to CRT. I have the latest BIOS and drivers. It defintely happens when going into XP, because if I make the change, reboot, and immediately go into the BIOS again, the setting sticks. Once I go into XP, the setting is gone when I check again, and, of course, NO 800x480 available in XP. Also, I LEAVE THE LCD (Lilliput 7" touch screen) ON when booting.
Also, once in XP, in the display properties, one of the S3 tabs shows what type of monitor, and it says "CRT". Hum....
Is there a special version of the video drivers required?
I have spent a lot more time on this one...any help would be appreciated.
It is clear to me that the Lilliput touch screen I am using (Eby-701) does not present itself to Windows XP as an LCD monitor. Because of this, it defaults to CRT, and the bios is somehow told by windows that it is a CRT. If there were some Monitor drivers available for the Eby-701 that could somehow be used in XP that would identify it correctly, then maybe we would be able to get 800x480. UUUGGGGHHHH!
Just FYI, the 7" LCD we use (lilliput, super/avatar maybe xernac too), doesn't sent any info regarding the screen to windows. Normal monitors do (crt, lcd like Sony, view sonic) send screen id to windows that is why it know exactly what monitor you are using.
If you look at the connector (mini DIN), there are only 9 or 10 pins connected to the monitor. 4 pins already for the TS, VGA Red, blue, green, Vsync, Hsync, ground that make up 10 pin. One with 9 pins use power ground as VGA ground.

I just got the same issue today. I tried the BIOS setting, but after starting XP it would revert back to CRT. And XP only went down to 800x600. Using powerstrip I could get down to 640x480, but this video driver does not allow powerstrip to set up custom resolutions.
