i think you need to tint the top of your windshield...and do it at 15-25%...not 50...
Finally got the carPC finished, running a 7" lilliput in there, but sometimes the glare is terrible. Heres my question: Window Tinting - Obviously, this will help. That said, I don't want to draw too much attention to my car and want my tint to be legal so I'd probably go 50% around the entire car (minus windshield). Can anyone tell me specifically if 50% tint would dramatically help? If not 50%, what tint would be needed to reduce the glare?
It's illegal to tint your front side windows at all.

in America, its illegal to tint your whole windshield (but you can down to a certain point), but your front side windows are legal al over...and depending on what state you live in depends on how dark you can have them...most states dont like the driverside front window to be tinted, but thats mostly at the discression of the cop, and if hes had a bad day or not...
Edit: make that the U.S. not just America...cause you are in North America as well...
Thats just really bad advice man. Check your states vehicle code on tinting. Look it up online. It not that hard to find out what your state allows. Tinting the front drivers and passengers window IS NOT LEGAL in every state. I believe its illegal IN MOST STATES unless you have specific medical conditions in which case you need a doctors notice to be in compliance. Most tint installers will install tint regardless of state laws, so be aware!
Civiputer: Dont have one anymore, but here is what is used to be!
Yup - definitely illegal to have any tint on the front windows in New Jersey. But, I did it anyway... 20%.
You would probably never get pulled over just for the tint, but if you get stopped for anything else, or drive like a jerk with the bass up in residential areas... count on a tint fine getting tacked on!
It does help keep the screen usable, that is for sure.

And just to add more confusion to the thread, in some states like colorado, you can tint all the windows except windshield a maximum of 28%. However, you can legally tint all your back windows at 5%, but then you are not allowed to have any tint at all on your front windows. So in some states it is not as cut and dry as is it legal and what percent. The darker on certain areas of the car, dictate the darkest limit on other sections.
