    touchscreen not working

    Hey,

I'm having problems with my lcd/touchscreen combo, the screen is a 10.4in touchscreen, it was from a POS system. It uses a Chips 60555 controller and another ISA controller that connects to the Chips pci controller.

The LCD/touchscreen connetc to the PC via a 50pin cable, this connects to the Chips controller, then the controller has a female serial port which I ASSUME should be connected to a serial port on the motherboard. I get video fine, but the touchscreen is not detected.

I'm not home currently, so I can't provide serial #s and model #s but I'll post everything when I get home (in an hour or two).

    thanks,

    Okay got them:

There are 3 pcbs in the case, one seems to be the inverter, and it connects to the backlights, it's labeled Hitachi and above Hitachi it has VNR10C209-INV , the INV part seems to clue me in to the inverter part, it seems to work fine.

Next we have the touchscreen pcb, there is an IC on it with the following:
    Microtouch
    Systems 1995
    19-531 Rev #2
    ICS1821 9723

On the PCB it has the numbers " 5403001 Rev 4.2/S1 " it has an LED connected to it that glows when powered on.

The other board is what everything else connects to, the serial and inverter cables connect to it, and it has a cable that comes off it and connects to what seems to be a standard hirose connection on the lcd. a 50pin cable from this pcb connects to the PC.

The video controller is a Chips & Technologies 65550 B module, it's 800x600 262K colors, the touchscreen is an analog and capacitive screen, and has an RS232 interface.

I have a whole manual for this, but it's sort of poorly written, and I don't understand this field enough to fully comprehend it, if you ask for more specific information I can probably find it.

The company is Siemens/Nixdorf, the product is called SNIkey TFT. Seems to be a german company (since half the manual is in german)

    Thanks,

    lcd touch drivers

Ok so you need drivers to run your touch screen, I just did a simple search based on your info and 3 mins later i came p with this..

what are these things called search engines for anyways??

    heres the link.
It covers your screen, if you do a search on microtouch you will see that the same drivers used by them are used for other touch apps.

hmm I'll try those out, I have already had an older version of the software (win95) and in Win98 it still wasn't detecting the touchscreen. It would search, but never find anything. I'll give these new ones a shot.

that didn't work, it's still not detecting the screen. The manual implies that the screen needs 4 com ports installed, I installed these and set the resources to match the resources set on the ISA card, and still doesn't work.
