    Drivers for this monitor

Okay guys - I guess for someone in computer engineering I'm not too smart.

How are you installing these drivers? First, I tried the ones that came with the screen (I got the 10.4") then I re-read this post and tried the other drivers mentioned. Well apparently I'm doing something wrong. I installed from the setup.exe on both cases and even tried fully uninstalling, rebooting etc. The monitor works fine but NO TOUCHY!!

Is everyone else finding that they are just launching the setup.exe or are you having to launch other .exe's in the folder to get it (The touchscreen) working?

FYI - I'm running XP - see siggy for specs........

I tried a few times yesterday and I'll be right back at it today but it should not be this difficult. (listen to me, - I should know better than to say that - geez!)
Truck PC about 90% done.....Most of the work lies in mounting the LCD (as usual).

The CD with my screen was bad so I got the touch drivers from the cartft site mentioned earlier and just ran the setup, everything has been good since calibrating(limited use though - just got it into the car)

Might try to uninstall the earlier driver and start over with the good one

Has anyone had to manually edit the USBtouch.sys file??
Has anyone tried using the PS2 interface - I am using USB
The setup.exe seems to run okay (with the alternate driver) but the help file said thet after it scans the com ports it is supposed to tell you which one it selected and ask you to click "ok". - Mine does not do that. It just scans the COM ports then says "setup is complete" or "finished successfully" - then asks me to do the 4-point calibration but when the "flashing X" appears and I try to press it I get nothing.

Can anyone help?? - I'm starting to think I have a bad screen or cable (which I will try later when I get one)

No one else had these issues installing??

I had a problem installing the touchscreen portion with the included CD. Uninstalled the CD version software, installed the touch screen software which is linked a few pages back in this thread. Had no problems after that.

I have hooked the screen up via USB with 2 15' extension cables.

    Thanks

Thanks Conrad - I have tried that but will continue to until I succeed or return the darn monitor.

Does anyone know of a web site for support for this product???

I had the same problem with mine at first and what I had to do on the first calibration was use my finger nail and hold down fairly hard on the first " X " and then as it went to the next 3 x's it got better. Then I did the 16 or 18 point cal with just my finger tip. At first it seemed like the touch screen wasn't working but it did finally work. Used the cd that came with it and used XP and usb.

    Okay I got it!

Even though the message during setup clearly states that "you must ensure that the USB device is plugged in NOW" The driver instructions (from the link mentioned earlier) say NOT to plug the USB cable in until the setup is complete. SO I left it unplugged and went through the setup THEN I plugged it in. Works okay now - see below.

STILL, it doesn't seem to work unless I use mt fingernail. I will set it up again today and try the 16 point cal that stretch mentioned.

    Thanks guys.

    viewing angle

Just got mine. I haven't found anyone who has actual viewing angles, just the published "130 degrees"

From what I can tell it's:
    65L
    65R
    65D
    15U

It's the up that really bugs me. To be able to use it where I was planning, I'll need to install it upside down, and then rotate my screen 180degrees in xpe.

    bummer.

update after taking apart, to start building into my dash.

Touchscreen is just laying in front of samsung screen, nothing other than lcd hold downs keep it in place. Resistive to usb controller, with passthrough wires from controller though main circuit board. It's amazing how they just took generic parts and made a touchscreen. (they even soldered to the back of the DC input to inverter board, as their connector must have been different.) Double sided tape holds everything in place. Touchscreen has a plastic 'protective film' that once removed, made viewing much better.
