I ran my screen with no speakers for about a year and a half, before I apparently cooked it this past week.

10.4" Screen from OnVon.com
I picked up the 10.4" from OnVon.com and the display started to sag in the housing within a few days. I opened it up to readjust it and found that it was not a Samsung panel as they advertise it is and instead it is a LG panel. The display's daytime viewing is very poor, gets washed out and the glare can be pretty bad. The touch panel is sticky taped to the housing and the LCD panel, there are 4 small brackets that hold the screen from falling back but nothing to keep it from sliding down or to one side. There are 2 plastic nubs on the top and other side that help line it up but no real support. Wound up cracking the corner of the touch panel with how sticky the tape was when I tried to (gently) pull the display from the housing. Cheap for a 10.4" display and you get what you pay for, false advertising and poor assembly. Also the button panel can't be screwed down much at all or it will depress all the buttons. On the plus side the shipping was very fast, their cheapest option which is DHL had it to me within 2 days. Noticed that the price has gone down to $139 from $145 when I bought it about a week and a half ago.

Nice to hear that your comments. We will improve our sevice and update the adv on time. As I told on this forum before, we will use Samsung, Phillip LG or Sharp panel according to the marketing supply. For 10.4 VGA touch screen, we use LP104S5-C1.
If you don't satisfied on the Phillip LG touch screen, onVon agree to change new Samsung panel or refund. Samsung panel has in stock these days.

I am actually satisfied with the quality of the monitor and day time viewing is not so bad for me. But is there anyway to check which panel I have(like in DELL) without opening the monitor?

For panel inspection, we always use DisplayX; For notebook or pc, youhua.com is recommended.

OnVon, I would like to work with you to do an exchange for the Samsung panel. I sent an email from your website before I posted here yesterday morning and I have not received a response, what is the best method of contact? Do you carry capacitive touch panels with controllers? If so what are the costs? Also it should be listed on your site that the screen could be something other than Samsung as it it lists "Real Samsung Panel. Un real value" along with the specifications of the Samsung panel only. The LG and Samsung panel specifications vary a bit from each other, especially their luminance.
