Lilliput GL701 Tuner is Terrible?

I bought a GL701 a few months back and was developing in my lab with no problems. Today I installed it in my jeep, connected the antenna, and discovered that the tuner in it is TERRIBLE. It gets no TV stations at all, a few FM stations, and a fraction of the available AM stations in town. The strange thing is that it hears a weak station at 950AM but is unable to hear a 50,000 watt giant at 1180AM (the strongest in town).

The antenna works, or at least it did with the factory head unit. If I unplug the antenna it receives literally nothing.

I'm wondering, has anybody else experienced this?

Yep

Excatly as you described. (I'm in the UK) I can get 89.9fm which is a very weak station, but cannot get our main stations, like Radio 1 etc (98.8-95.5fm)..

I did find that if the screen is retracted, the signal is a bit better, but not by much.

I also could not get rid of the alternator whine, even when using as a stand-alone radio...

Mine was so bad i ended up reinstalling a standard HU aswell as the screen.
