Civic SI 07 - NAV Trip Dash Xenarc mounting advice?

    Hey guys,

Well I was hoping I could manage to just build a kick a** carputer and just post a big cool howto after words but I'm having fun and I"m just at the beginning

I have a Honda Civic SI 07 with a non-navigation system, however I bought the option NAV dash plate which I am trying to get my 7" Xenarc screen in.

Height is a perfect fit but the width is giving me problems.

I have cut a piece of wood in hopes of getting the screen in there somehow but what I'm not sure about is, what could I do to keep the screen from falling out the front?

I've been looking around the forum but just keep seeing, "I just popped it in" kind of thing.

Anyway here are some pictures of whats goin on.

    Thanks a lot!

Hmm so I think I might try and attach the wood to the sites of the monitor and epoxy it into the bezel. I'll post back and let anyone whos curious know how that goes.. lol

Wow! That looks totally awesome. Did you start with the Nav dash and bondo outward to make that boxy look or just bondo in the back?

    Thanks that helps a lot!

ya, im currently at work... it is deep it because i had alot of sunlight problems... i did start with the navi dash, i cut some of the top out... then extended the top and sides with plastic/bondo... Good luck!

awesome, I'll give it a try with the NAV dash first then I might try something similar. How did you mount the screen to the back of the dash? (I'm guessing a little bondo to the case of your screen?)

Alright... so after a little shopping today I picked up some bondo, MDKP, and silicone (and a respirator since I have no idea if that stuffs bad for me..)

I ended up sanding down the Nav dash and the front cover of the Xenarc then put a little duct tape to hold it in, then siliconed it onto the dash...

Once it dries I will try this whole "bondo" thing... lol I'll post back with pics of the mess =P

    yess

Well looks like the silicone held up...

I used some Bondo brand body fill and let it dry. Sanded, touched up, sanded, and sanded some more...

Looks pretty good I think (for being my first time...).

Tomorrow I will sand it some more (high grit) then primer and paint it.
