I've just got a Xenarc screen, and was wondering if there are there any drivers to display windows in 16:9.
The image doen't look that bad, but it slightly stretched.

- Currently planning setup
I have had no success getting PowerStrip to change the resolution on my VIA EPIA 800 under windows XP. I am sure the reason for the onboard not working, was the driver for a low-end car. However I changed it out with another brand, it said it accepted the resolution, however I could NOT get it to go. Anyone want to post a guide to this?
Thanks,
Quincy
From Powerstrip's website:
I plan on trying this out when I get home from work tonite.Legacy support
PowerStrip 3 is intended for use with newer display cards, but to protect your investment in older hardware a wide range of otherwise orphaned display adapters are supported, including those based on chips from 3dfx, Number Nine, Cirrus Logic, Rendition, S3, and Tseng Labs. However, a handful of chips supported by older versions of PowerStrip have regrettably been dropped from Version 3. If needed, PowerStrip 2.78 continues to be available here.

Let's keep our collective fingers crossed.
I think in order to display 16:9 ratio, the video card must be capable to display that resolution. My FV24 board supports 848X480 with latest driver. I use Powerstrip to shrink the 848 down to 800. You can try installig the latest driver for your video card.
Has any body managed to get a Xenarc displaying 800x480 using the Epia on-board graphics??
Shoot, no dice.
I upgraded the latest display drivers for the onboard vga, then installed PowerStrip 3.29 but the button for "custom resolution" was disabled.
I then uninstalled PS3.29 and tried installing an older version, PS2.78 which, upon launching, caused my monitor to stop responding (shut off).
I can't think of a technical reason as to why this can't be done ... I think the makers of PowerStrip just need to build in support for our vga chipset ...
I've emailed them @ support@entechtaiwan.com and will let you know if they reply.

I was reading around on the Powerstrip help forums, and they had mentioned that a card being unable to support custom resolutions is not a limitation of the card/chipset - but of the drivers themselves.
I'm currently stuck in the same situation. Later tonight when I get home I plan on doing two things, maybe some of you guys could go ahead and try this ahead of time.
First, is try to find other drivers for our chipset, which is the Trident Blade 3D (I've seen mention of it being equivelant to Blade 3D, Blade II 3D, and the Cyberblade, which one is correct I don't know). If the drivers I can track down actually operate, I'll try using Powerstrip on those.
As a side note - I've tried installing Windows XP generic Blade3D/Permedia drivers and use Powerstrip (both versions) on those, with no success.
One other thing I wanted to try, and I just happened across this. I was reading an article about an FV24 motherboard install and them getting the onboard chipset to work with a plasma screen at a custom resolution - here was their solution.
"Since this machine is to be used with a plasma screen TV, the resolution had to be adjusted to work as close to our display's 852x480 native resolution as possible. As the drivers didn't advertise support for this resolution, we had to do it manually in the registry by modifying the registry entries in HKEY_CURRENT_CONFIG\System\CurrentControlSet\Contr ol\VIDEO using regedit."
The same registery location does not exist with Win98, only XP.
Try these at your own risk - be prepared to have a crash, etc.

Well, neither worked. I first tried the registry settings, which were hidden else where inside the registry. Defaulted back to 640x480 upon reboot.
Then I sucessfully got the Blade3D drivers to work off of tridents site (for Windows2000, even though I'm running XP). I tried using both versions of powerstrip - no luck.
I then tried modifiying the registry with the Blade3D drivers installed, and then the original Microsoft Drivers. Again, no luck.
I'm not sure the powerstrip guys are gonna be able to help us with this - this may be something to contact Via themselves over. And it's a fairly resonable request, as I've read thousands of posts of users who bought the EPIA board with the intent of using it as a system to drive their HDTV sets.
Otherwise, looks like a riser and a Geforce2 here I come!
