I've had great experience from xenarc. They do send out the right model but just labeled them wrong on the unit. As for the scratches and dead pixels, I cannot confirm; I ordered two from them and they both work fine.
I have read some good, but also a LOT of bad about Xenarc about wrong models being sent out, non working displays, scratched up displays and casing, dead pixels, all around borked up units. Is it safe to order one? I'm about fed up with my current lcd, composite video just isn't satisfying me like I thought it would.
I really just want a sound off on all the working Xenarc units. I need satisfaction in knowing that there are more working units than not.
If you have had problems with yours, I do still want to hear what to look out for. Thanks.

Heres my experience with them:
Heads up about Xenarc "customer service"
These are (in my opinion) beyond any doubt, refurbs and/or returns. They claimed to me that they do QA before they go out, which is an out right lie. Half the complaints heard on these forums would have never happened if they did the rigorus QA that they claim to do. Both my units were scratched up, had dust under the glass, and were obviously not new. If they cost $300ish, sure I would buy another one and not be so picky. But for $500, they had better be brand spaking new with not one flaw. Heed my warning, save yourself the headache, the cash, and the hassle, and do not buy one. IMHO!![]()

Xenarc seems to be a your mileage may vary company.
You can take a chance if you want but it may be hell in the end.
I feel responsible for the bad experiences that a few users here have had, being that it was I who organized the group buy in the first place.
That being said, I have had no problems with mine. It works exactly as advertised. Now I do not know if the majority of the units that were shipped where defective in some way, of if they are simply the more outspoken of the Xenarc customers. It's as they say, people who have a bad experience will tell it to everyone who listens.
IfFix, I'm deeply sorry that you're experience has been less than favorable. Perhaps I should not have orgainzed a group buy with such a new company when only one member of the board had made a purchase. Everyone seemed to want one, and I thought I was doing the right think.
I'm happy with my unit and plan to install it in my Impreza for what it's worth.

Skippman: Don't take it hard, man. You were only trying to help everyone get a good deal on something they decided that they wanted. You presented them with everything you knew, and did the best you could. I didn't order one of these screens, but I appreciate all the work you did in trying to get this together for everyone. Remember, as with any purchase, the decision is ultimately up to the person that pulls the trigger, not the person that facilitates the process.

Not a problem man. Its not your fault that Xenarc doesnt know the first thing about QA testing products before they leave their handsOriginally posted by Skippman

I don't think anyone will fault skippman for a bad experience. (Especially since he's an admin...) I think everyone could see how much work and thought you put into it. I didn't order one either, but it wasn't from a lack of interest... This could have just as easily been a great deal (and it was for some). No one here had any control over it.
