I'm very interested and would love to see some pictures! I've been researching screens for a while on here and was about ready to press the order button for the mp3car transflective. I'd love to see some pictures in sunlight so I can compare with the reflectiveness and brightness of the mp3car one which has plenty of pictures in the sun. I'm also doing a completely stealth install, but I have an RX-8 so I'm using the stock nav piece. I'm using a microcontroller to retain the motor and button functions, and the last feature I need to add is to automatically turn the screen on when it opens and off when it closes, but I can't do that until I have the screen! Even after that turning it into a pcb will take a while and I'm getting anxious I'm guessing you didn't have any problem with customs? What's the warranty like, is it void if you open it up?

ugh... Customs was fine... I literally got the screen in less than 24 hours...

    I have 3 problems though:

    1) The screen flickers when I move the cord around (It's a one-to-many cord... a dongle.)

    2) The bottom-right of the screen moves/creaks when pressed

    3) Not as bright as I would have expected.

I am holding my reservations until I get the replacement from LinITX... but I will definitely post pictures... This one is clearly defective, and could be affecting several aspects.

I just hope that LinITX pays for shipping... that was $60...

edit: Nope, I have to pay shipping... not cool, but I have had this problem with other companies... they sure as hell better pay return-shipping though...

Update: I had to pay $163.69 to get the monitor sent back. This was the cheapest I could find.

The mp3car.com model is starting to look rather enticing at this point.

That brings my entire order to $648, and I don't even have a working screen in-hand.

Fairly disappointed with this experience with LinITX so far...

That really sucks man, sorry to hear that. Hopefully the saying good things come to those who wait is true in this case, although I haven't had much luck with it personally, lol. I'm still not sure about spending $500+ on a screen and have been looking into other options. But keep us posted, I'll be looking forward to seeing pictures when the new one arrives!

LinITX = not a good idea. Unless you live in the UK.

I live in the US, and I ordered one, that flickered when hooked up to several different power supplies. It also "squeaked," and shifted when I pushed on the screen. It also has probably the worst viewing angle out of any monitor I have ever laid eyes upon.

So if you don't care about all that, but simply want one you can see in direct sunlight, then by all means. I don't think sunlight-readable displays are ready for mainstream yet.

The best solution is probably super high brightness monitors, and not transflective, at this point.

At a $163USD loss to myself, I shipped the unit back and I am getting a refund on the monitor and original shipping.

I should have taken pictures when I had it, but it looked like a laptop display from 1989 or so. Colors were TERRIBLE, and viewing angles reminded me of non-active matrix displays of yesteryear.

    Go super-high brightness...

I wouldn't write-off transflective altogether. I've had a great experience with my CarTFT screen!

Sorry you had a bad experience though... that really really sucks

Which model are you using? One of the cartft screens is the same exact screen as the linitx model...

Mine is the CTF700-SH. They list another 7" transflective... mine is the more expensive one. They have their own review/write-up of my screen on their site. Was pretty much the selling point for me.

    Here is the link: http://www.cartft.com/community/Story/death_valley/

Edit: Oh yeah... and I have my own review (see sig...)

I would caution you strongly against the CarMP3 7" transreflective LCD screen. While it is beautiful, it has one SERIOUS flaw.... for some unknown reason, the calibration screws up about 90% of the time. It's so far off that I can't even get to the recalibrate applet unless I use a mouse or keyboard. This is simply inexcusable for a $700 screen. I had bought a Xenarc screen a while back for the same price (for my other car) and it's worked out beautifully. While it's not transreflective, and only about 400 nits, at least it's reliable.

I tried to get it fixed via carMp3.com but they weren't able to "reproduce the problem". How convenient for them. Honestly I think it's a great transreflective technology atop a crap *** lilliput. On top of that, mp3car took about 4 months to return the screen. They had done NOTHING about it, and they ignored me. I had to start a police and FBI file on them to get it back.

    Buyer beware.
