Solved it with the 4.0.2.1929 driver, which allowed manual adding (no device/driver mismatch error). Hmmm...
I searched, but couldn't find this one:
My 700IDT was working great for many weeks, but now the touchscreen shows up as 'unknown device' under the USB heading in the device manager.
When I try to point to the TouchUSB.inf file (tried both of the latest versions) it says that the location doesn't contain drivers for the device.
I verified that the touchscreen is the unknown device by plugging in/unplugging.
It previously worked on my 1.1 and 2.0 ports, but now works on niether, but always shows up as 'unknown device' and won't accept manual driver updates.
All other USB devices still work perfectly.
Any ideas?

i just made the drive from cali to texas and about halfway i turned my car off to get gas, and turning it back on the touch screen doesn't work.
looks like i'm having the same issue as you, now i can't install the touch screen because it just appears as an unknown USB connection and won't let me manually install any of the drivers that xenarc has listed because they 'don't contain any information about my device'.
any other advice you can give? i tried the 1929 drivers to no luck...

Sorry I can't think of anything. Did you try uninstalling the original touchkit first? My next step was going to be re-installing Windows. Maybe if you tried that and only stick to the 1929 drivers after? I haven't had any problems after using that driver...
