On my screen, that svideo looking thing was for the power. But mine also came with the other end to that cable.
any ideas where i can get the cable. im assuming this SVIDEO cable powers the screen and sends the signal down?
anyone shed some light or provide links please?
I think that image of the connector is a little too blurry + too many reflections off the pins. can't really tell what that is. might want to post the screen make + model too.
theres no make or model on the screen casing. and i cant really get a decent image of the connector but here is marked where things are
there are 6 pins all marked by a line and then there is a rectangular shaped plastic nub

It probably uses an s-video signal, but the actual connector in your picture is neither s-video nor "pro s-video" (the 7-pin one). So it might take some searching to find an adapter type cable. I bet you could find one though.
I'd personally just cut the connector off and put something new on. My guess is that you have 4 pins for s-video (lum, gnd, chr, gnd), plus power and ground for the inverter. The main power and ground lines might be beefier, which would make things easy for you. As long as you get those two right, you probably won't break anything by mixing up the luminance and chroma wires. Just trial + error.
If it's not obvious which line is the power, open up the case and follow the wiring to the inverter.
