    Static!!

Ok i need some help please...ive read numerous other threads about static on the site but im still stuck.
Ok i have a laptop setup connected to a 7" touchscreen upfront. Laptop is powered by an inverter. When inverter is turned off i have no issues. When powered on and laptop is charging however, i have rolling lines down the screen. To try and solve this i have grounded the laptop case via the VGA cable (cables straight from earth to metal posts on connector. This has solved the lines down the screen but created another issue. The screen image almost jumps around randomly. Every few seconds 5-15secs varying the image will jump/flicker then return to normal. Almost like when you resize the screen. I have also noticed im starting to get an alternator wine through the speakers. Anyhelp is appreciate as its driving me crazy! Thanks

Inverters tend to do bad things to analog signals.

Have you considered purchasing a 12V auto adapter for the notebook? What model notebook are you using?

i have had random issues with this on rare occasions and it has always been fixed by auto adjusting the screen from the osd menu.

Thanks for the reply's. It has its supply spliced from the wiring harness for the CD player unit. Ive noticed lines on the digital display for that too when in video mode. Maybe running a fresh separate feed from the battery will solve this? Just gotta find the time to do it, my battery's in the boot.

im powering mine from the opus suply in the boot. and earthed to the cd player loom up front. are you using the lilliput "regulator" for have you installed your own regulator.
i blew up a lilli using there supplied regulator. becuase it doesnt regulate at all. the voltage when tested was found to be 15v when reving the engine. id get a 12v regulator ic wire it in from the same supply and put a small power cap accross the +ve and -ve 1uf or something
