what i would really like to know is if someone has actually got 800x480 working correctly with a lilliput. maybe it's just not possible and trying all of these different settings in vain. can anyone confirm that they are getting 800x480 showing on the osd of the lilliput?

are those images from motorcity or did you buy a transflective xenarc and take pictures of it yourself? i've been in touch with duayn from motorcity and he has been very helpful. from what he's told me so far, motocity's transflective xenarcs do not have an upgraded touch panel. below is part of the email he sent me.
"ARMR Anti Refelctive film is applied to the touch screen.
I do not replace the touch screens in the Xenarc monitors. They are already Anti Glare from the factory and adding the ARMR provides a suitable glare reduction."
does anyone know why a xenarc controller board would not be compatible with a lilliput lcd? i was thinking that if my old xenarc could do 800x480 correctly, then if i took the controller board and used it with the transflective lilliput lcd and touch panel, the i'd have it made but when i tried it all i got was some white/grey speckled crap.
also, i tried upgrading my agp video card from an ati 7200 to a geforce fx 5200 and added a custom resolution using the nvidia control panel, but still no success with 800x480 on the lilliput. so far no one has stepped forward to say that they have 800x480 detected correctly by their lilliput screen. i am starting to think the lilliput just isn't capable of locking onto it's own native resolution which is the suck.

I took those pictures myself. That's the middle of the summer at noon in AZ. As you can tell by the washed out shadows of that deck the sun is pretty much pounding that screen. I doubt a car will ever get that bad. The first pic is with all the doors and windows of my office open and light hitting the screen. How it compares to the Lilliputs here I don't know. Motorcity told me the process of upgrading was the same as MP3cars so without anyone else offering pictures or info I figured I'd take a chance and get another screen if it didn't work out. I'm still a few weeks away from actually getting it in the car. FWIW it looks a lot better in person than it does in that pic. To be honest I went with motorcity because I didn't want to do any more business with MP3car and Duayn was the only other option at the time.
just an update on the situation. i tried everything i could to get the lilliput to take 800x480 with no success. in desperation i took my dash back apart and tried to hook up a xenarc controller board again. after trying for a while, seating and reseating the ribbon cable, i ended up damaging the small controller board on the lcd and had the white screen of death on my transflective. i took one off of another xenarc i have (~2 years old) since they were both hitachi lcd's with the small hitachi controller board and no more wsod. i figured with a different board on there i'd try to use the xenarc controller again and this time it worked. so now i have 800x480 on my transflective and i'm a happy camper. however i am short a small lcd controller board for a newer model xenarc or lilliput if anyone has one to sell.

Does the Lilliput menu show it connected at 800x480?
I'm about ready to do what Kuo has done and just a Xenarc controller board and use that if it is easier to get the native 800x480.
Kuo, did you take pictures of the conversion from one controller to the other? Was there anything else that was required to get the native 800x480?
Thanks
John
No use steering now!
In Windows, my display settings are set to 800x480, but the Lilliput's OSD reports 600x480. The video looks fine though, I don't have any of this blur you say you're having. Also all my icons and images come up proportional so I'm pretty sure it's running at the 800x480 resolution.
I too have not seen anyone confirm that their Lilliput reports a 800x480 resolution on the OSD.
EDIT: I don't have the transflective, just a regular Lilli.
unfortunately i did not take step by step pictures but if your xenarc has a 4 wire touch panel then all three of the connectors you see in the attached picture match up. i'm not sure what happened the first time i tried this when i got a white/greyish speckled image. it was either one of two things. i plugged the cable in badly but not badly enough to short out the small controller board circled in the picture or that board was not compatible with my ~4 year old xenarc lcd controller. after i got the weird image i went back to the lilliput controller and it worked again and for a few days i tried in vain for 800x480 on the lilliput transflective. after nothing worked to get the display to detect correctly i went back to trying the xenarc controller and I ended up frying the small controller board. i think i put the white ribbon in crooked and crossed contacts. at this point i took the small board off of the xenarc lcd and replaced the fried on, hooked up the xenarc controller board and it worked. 800x480 on the transflective at last! there was a thread here http://www.mp3car.com/vbulletin/inpu...arc-board.html where another member says he did the same thing without screwing with the small lcd controller.
as far as the actual connections, it's not very difficult. after you take apart the transflective lilliput, you unclip the flat white ribbon cable and remove it from the small lcd controller, unplug the touch panel connector, and unplug the inverter cable. then you can remove the lilliput controller board. Now you just have to plug everything back into the xenarc controller boards (large lcd controller, touch panel controller, and inverter) but be careful with the white ribbon cable and don't end up with fried components like me. it's ok though because duayn from motorcity is selling me a replacement so i can get my old xenarc up and running with the lilliput controller.
