    First with 2008 Lilliput transflective?

    Hello all -

Year-end bonuses have finally allowed me to kick-start my project for my 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee.... One of the first purchases was a monitor, to which I selected the new 2008 LED Lilliput with transflective upgade.

Am I the first one with one of these in hand?

If so, I'd be happy to answer questions about it. HOWEVER -- I don't have any other car LCD monitors to compare it to, so don't even ask. Sorry.

There is one thing that strikes me odd, though... nowhere on the box does it indicate LED backlighting, nor do I see anything indicating the manufacturing date. Hmmm

Could you PM me with details of where you got it, etc?

    I've been looking at a lilliput 859GL

Got it from the only place I know of doing transflective modifications to these screens.... the mp3Car store.

I considered the lilliput 859GL, but didn't like the 4:3 aspect it offers. After using dual monitors for so long on my computer, I have become accustomed to the "widescreen-like" aspect of it.

Know what you mean - I was looking for 16:9 but there is a bin on the dash of the car that is constraining me on width and the 859 has both a nice resolution and brightness for the price. I figure if all else fails, I'll keep it for a sys mon on one of the house servers.

There is an outfit in Detroit (I think - its called Motor City something IIRC) that is doing mods as well. Was thinking of adding a polarizing layer myself.

Let me know your luck in getting 800 x 480 out of the transflective Lilliput.

    C -

Display is on its way. Unfortunately, MOBO needs to go back for video problems.

Actually, I was thinking more in terms of 800 x 600 on this display. WIll advise.

Can you put up more pictures of this screen. Does it auto switch to composite and then back to VGA. Backup camera mode.

It wasn't the mobo; it was the old monitor.

The new Lilliput is working OK. (Does not look like yours FWIW) The box says Model
859GL-80NP/C This is an 8" non touchscreen 4:3 model. Nothing about LED backlighting.

At this point I have minor issues w a white line flashing on the bottom row on boot-up, but it pertty much goes away when I get into graphics mode on Xwinows.

When I booted it up, it was a tad confused about what resolution it should be. I was offered 640x480 and 800x600, but both had image off the screeen. A bit of tweaking in the BIOS has it working OK at 640x480. But I'm hoping for 800x600 eventually.

Making good progress with the apps under Linux. Learning a lot, but that's part of it. And the car has hit the US; hope to pick it up soon.
