No one with 700TSV has the same problem? Lucky me!
Just bought a 2008 Xenarc 700TSV from store here. It seem to have a good bright LCD (compared to my old Lilliput) but its back cover on the top gets very hot. In fact it gets so hot that it almost burns my finger when I touch the metal bracket that the stand screws into. Is this normal? My lilliput never got this hot.
I want to do an in dash custom install without removing the housing and I am worried about the heat build up in the enclosed space it will be located in. Will I need to install a fan in there?
Thanks in advance for all opinions, thoughts and suggestions.

I dunno, I have a 700TSV and maybe it overheats. I installed it into my dash asap and cannot access the back. I'm probably going to install a 12V fan to blow on the PCB before summer comes around though.
The new 700TSV does have a much brighter display than previous models. I would imagine that it would be hotter because of this. Electronics that get hot to the touch is pretty normal. Touch some of the parts in your computer after it's been running for a while. Sometimes they get hot enough to almost burn you. My older model 700TSV gets pretty darn hot, so I think you'll be alright.
I called Xenarc and they offered to check my monitor to make sure temp is within specs. I will post once I have the results. The only reason I am worried is because I plan to mount the monitor as is (complete with its case) inside another housing within my dash with limitted ventilation. The lilliput was there for a couple of years and handled it just fine, but then it barely got warm to the touch. This one almost burns the skin off of my finger! Well, maybe not that hot, but you get the picture...

Happens with mine, too. Gets hotter than any LCD monitor or LCD TV in the house. Even smells a little like hot plastic (but it just arrived yesterday and I'm using it on my desktop).
I think that common because run your cd player in the car for 30 mins and then see if you can touch the rear of it. It's really really hot.
Got a 700tsv and I'd does get a bit warm. I'm sure it should be fine though.
Thanks for the input. Seems to be a common thing with the new 2008 700tsv models. Xenarc sent me another one and it too gets hot. I do like the brightness so I will try to install a CPU fan behind it to move the air around and see what happens.
