I'll let you know. ordered one from MP3car, and it should be the 5-wire version and 500 nit.
The xenarc 700IDT sold on mp3car seems to be the older version. Anyone using the new version: is it worth it to pay the extra bucks for the new one?
Thanks
Oh why do I spend so much time and money on a technology that works only half the time? Is always a work in progress? Is never complete? I wonder.

I went ahead and bought it from Xenarcdirect as I wasnt sure what mp3car had in stock. The new (5-wire) screen is definetely better than any other screen I have seen/used before. The best part is that it is very visible even in the direct sunlight of Phoenix and the touchscreen is very responsive! Good luck

The issue in sunlight whether the touchscreen works or not. As far as I know sunlight isn't going to have any bearing on touch functionality.
The big issue with sunlight is glare & readability, hence all the clammor for transflective displays or some other technology to make them sunlight-readable.
XS10X, so did you end up getting the older version or newer version from MP3Car?
I emailed them several weeks ago and they said they had the newer version. I've ordered one and it will show up on Wednesday. I'll let you know if it isn't the new one.

FYI, I got this info in an email from Xenarc:
New versions of the monitor have a serial number that start with B; the old version starts with A.
The one I received this week from mp3car.com has a 'B' serial number, so it is the new version.
Cheers,
