Broken Laptop, display to touchscreen in 350z

I have an old laptop laying around, and it is just laying around because the hard drive burnt out on me, so its laying around and it gets stepped on...so its hard drive is gone and the screen is gone... I want to hook this up to my xenarc 7" touch screen, but I am not sure that even if i replace the hard drive i will even be able to get the screen to show up on an external monitor...it is like $60 for a new hard drive but do you all have any idea on whether or not i will be able to get a signal to a different monitor to begin with so that i can set the properties on the computer to display to the other monitor and not the laptops lcd?

I do not know what do you mean old, but notebooks are clever enough to recognise the presence of an external monitor.
Notebooks do not need HDD to enter BIOS, that produces video signal.
In some cases, you have to set it to CRT+LCD display in the BIOS.
So, try it firstly without HDD with an external monitor, regardless LCD or CRT.

If the notebook is older than PI,486,386 my infos are not valid....

If your laptop has VGA out, you should be set. You could simply plug it into any vga monitor to test it out without going through the hassle of hooking it up to your car.
