Bumping the thread.
To reiterate:
My old non-LED 629 displays 800x480 pristinely and reports 640x480 on the on screen display.
My LED 629 that I had briefly displayed 800x480 with scaling artifacts and reported 640x480 on the on screen display.
Have Lilliput fixed the issue with scaling artifacts on the LED based 629?
I'd really like to have a spare monitor. Using another model as a spare would require a pain in the neck change of the VGA cable in case of a monitor switch.
Perhaps it would be helpful for Lilliput engineers if they could know what graphics hardware you all are using?
This might not mater, but are any of you using extension cables?
We have never seen this problem in person so it is hard for us to help.
Thanks for getting involved in this Fiberoptic.
I do use a high quality 2 m extension cable. The softness produced by the cable is so slight it's nearly undetectable. The effect of long cable softness is not the same as a re-sampling artifact.
The video is on-board Intel from my MSI 945GT Speedster-A4R mainboard.

The re-sampling artifact may seem subtle to some people. I have worked in digital video for 20 years so I may have a heightened awareness. On the other hand, several other contributors have complained as well. It's best to use a loupe if a detailed examination is needed.
In any case a monitor should be able to display its own physical resolution without an unnecessary re-sampling stage.
I had the opportunity of a direct comparison between the old model 629 and the new one so I'm very nearly certain I'm not imagining things.

I should be more specific...
I don't think the problem lies in the PC's Graphics hardware. The problem lies in the TTL->VGA controllers. I have 800X480 working on my old Lilli. I watch this thread with interest because if I want to get a new one, I can't! Won't run the rez I want!
No one has been able to get the new Lilli's controller boards to work successfully at 800X480 (that I am aware of).
Let's get a breakdown of monitors and attached display board revisions...and what resolutions they work at.

I just talked with Lilliput. They expect future versions of the monitors to support 800x480, but do not have an ETA until testing with the new chips is fully completed.
I personally would expect to see this in monitors by late this summer. We will post again here when we get our hands on a monitor with the new chips.
finally! hopefully they also add auto-sense for back-up cameras too.
