That's a familiar sight, I have about three that do that.
It is either a dodgy connector, dodgy cable or the main board has been fried.
I am in the process of trying a different monitors main board with the LCDs I have (as the other monitor uses the same LCD), just waiting on a couple of cables and then I can check out the screens at least.
