OK, I give in, but I need some advice! K-90 mod!

I had bought a K-90 motorized flip out screen. I wanted something that hid away and was not noticable, but also were I did not have to mod my dash. Well as time went on, I saw all the cool things you guys were doing with your cars and dashes and I started to get jealous. Well last night was the breaking point and I decided to mod my dash, kind of, im ordering a dash so I can mod that one, then if I have issues put the old one back in, without having to worry about damage.

Now my question is, how do you convert a flip out to a stationary? I know most of you are thinking, why doesnt he replace the screen? Well I like the auto switching for the reverse cam. I have no idea how the mechanics of the screen work though.... Can someone fill me in.... I notice that when the screen slides out, it is off, then when opens to a certain point, turns on and vise versa. How would I get rid of that issue? Also how would I take out the motor, simply cut it off? Last but not least, and my main concern, is that may dash is one piece... So I was thinking of molding the screen into that, but keep the back half of the unit... you know with all the connections and guts of the monitor.... Since the screen will be forward and the guts farther back, I am worried that the ribbon that connects the screen to the back half may not be long enough. Is there a place I can buy a longer ribbon?

would selling your current in dash lcd be an option? Then get a xenarc or something. I have a vm84 from short circuit and it was very easy to tear into and work with. I think this would be way easier, just a thought. I have no idea how you would make your in dash lcd work but I'm sure it's possible, just more difficult.

Can you give me a link to the site? Does it have the auto switching feature for reverse?

yes it has an acc wire to hook into your backup lights that will auto switch to an rca input, I haven't hooked mine up yet though because I don't have a backup cam. I'm sure there is better displays out there but I am very happy with mine, but can't compare it with anything else. here is a link

edt: it also has a fm tuner and speaker, but I didn't really find a use for. and if you don't plan on taking it out of it's casing it kind of looks ghetto with an antenna coming through the top

Ok I found it, but I do not see that it has the auto switching feature, where when I go in reverse the screen automatically shows the reverse cam, then when i go in drive, switches back to PC.

Here is another question. I am very happy with Lilliput screens, particurally the EBY701 and its wide screen aspect ratio. Is it possable to swap the displays only, but still use the guts of the K-90?

OK, i see it, but its not wide screen.... I really love the VM92 but its out of stock :-(... would that model have the auto switching.... why doesnt the manual say it or not.... Im scared that the 9 would be to big though :-(

Cool install..... see that screen is too tall.... I have to get a wide screen!!!!!!!!!

I have been spoiled by the look of the EBY701.... So back to my second question, can I use the K-90 guts and a EBY701 dispaly and use them together? So I would be using all of the circuits from the K-90 but the display of they EBY701

can't answer that, but the vm84 does have the option to switch to a reverse cam then back to vga when out of reverse.

Edit: not sure about the vm92. yeah it is a tall screen, 4.3 aspect ratio not 16:9.
also the brightness is a little lower than the specs I've seen on diferrent brands, but since mine is recessed quit a bit it shades out the sun pretty well, so it might not be the best for some.

I just looked at the manual and on the second page under features/function it lists it as rearview system.

Edit: vm92 lists rearview as well, but as you said out of stock
vm80 is widescreen and has the rearview sytem
vm70 didn't see it listed

I guess thats what happens when your still up at 3:30 AM and tired, lol. Maybe I should sell the K-90 and try to find some type of auto switching solution. Do you think there is a mod that I can do to a Lilliput to make it switch to AV2 when I hit reverse? Say for example modify the board holding the buttons?

Lol, I hear ya, it's only 1:00am here so I guess I'm a little fresher

, I'm sure it can be done, but that is kind of over my head, probably like you said though hpok up a relay or something to the input switch. ?

also sorry for taking this thread a different direction than what you were originally asking, I'm sure someone can give you a solution for using your in-dash lcd.
