See if you can find the resolution section in the inf file for the display driver. You may be able to edit it to add your own custom resolution. You'll need to reinstall the driver with the modified inf.

I currently run 1000x600 on my 7in Xenarc LCD using a Radeon card. Its just big enough to fit all XP windows and keeps the physical/native resolution aspect. I had a hard time reading the tiny fonts, so I switched to 120dpi and tweaked the cleartype.

    Link to Microsoft Cleartype Tweaker

Quick question - does refresh rate affect the Xenarc LCD or any LCD monitor?

please help, I am trying to get 800x480 in windows xp, I have powerstrip installed but I dont see where you set a custom resolution ? if I right click on the icon, go to display profile, configure, I have unchecked the option to hide unsupported res, but when I drag the handle left and right (within powerstrip) to select a res, it goes from 640x480 to 800x600, no 800x480. same thing in windows display properties. where am i supposed to go to make a custom res?

also when I go to advanced display options, 'adapter' ->show all modes, it doesnt list 800x480 so am I just out of luck ?

hardware is intel 82810e graphics onboard, Gain (xenarc) 7" vga touchscreen, new model

Look for the 'custom resolutions' button. It may be greyed out in which case you can't do 800x480 with you graphics card.

I think it's one dialog down from the Display Config, probably need to it Advanced Timing or something, then Custom Resolutions.

I have the opposite issue, i got my Mobile Radeon in the laptop to go to 800x480, but my (new) DSCustoms screen keeps going to 640x480, so i have to scroll back and forth accross the desktop. I could have sworn I had it working last night!

I did auto phase and restart. ideas?

Valhalla1, I don't think the intel 810e graphics chipsets are capable of displaying 800x480 or any other "non-standard" resolution. They're pretty plain jane and not very flexible. I've only heard of people having success with Matrox and ATI cards running wide aspect resolutions.

    Utility available

http://www.12noon.com/displaychanger.htm will allow you to set any display resolution on any monitor. It works for me in VMware Workstation.
