I was thinking an OBDII gauge panel. One screen to flip through RPM, Speed, Oil, Temp, etc. That would be cool, but like you said, B/U cam...the list goes on!

Then I must me a somebody, like mama always said! Took a little arm twisting, but I was able to become a distributor and get an initial order in for a few 3.5" VGA's. They have a lead time of 3 weeks, but I'm willing to wait for these lil' guys.

Yea they will sell some of them to you, just don't ask for their 1500nit panels, they told me they only sell them to Government / Nasa/ Aviation / etc.

Make sure to give us a review when you get them

Looks like the quake in China backed them up a bit. My 3.5" monitors are still on order, sigh....

I think this size would be a perfect fit on a visor, it's got VGA, S vid and Composite, nice and thin, and the cables and connection boards are connected with a harness, not mounted to the board. Expands the options a little.

UPDATE - After waiting far too long and getting nothing but grief and delays from Avionics (who also goes by 3D Matrix Vision, Auto LCD, LCD Show and a few other names), I cancelled the order and got the same 3.5" monitor from AEI Components.

It shipped the same day I ordered it. Fast friendly service, so hats off to AEI (no I don't work for them).

this thread was a good find...I just bought the 5" extra bright version from them, and I got a discount for using Fedex COD.

Price was $327 shipped...a very good deal for me.

Sean@3DMatrixVision.com is who I talked to. he says the 3.5" version would not be very good for car use since it's for handheld/battery use and is not very bright. he thinks the 5" version is perfect.

anyway, using an articulated ceiling LCD mount on the roof of my car with this, should work very nicely.

edit: using the new logitech dinovo bluetooth mini keyboard, so no need for a touchscreen.

My experience is:

If anyone is interested in these panels, save yourself time and trouble, visit AEI Computer instead of that Avionics LCD site.

I won't do business with them ever again, and hope to never see anyone get burned like I did with them.

Basically the same stuff at AEICOMP, no minimums, no hassle, no problems, no need to call the bank and start a chargeback dispute. That's about all I'll say. You feel free to fill in the rest.

They do have nice products, perhaps your experience will be better than mine.
