Xenarc MDT-X7000 (UK Vendor wanted)

Does anyone know where the hell on this planet i can get the screen from a UK vendor?

Ive emailed sales@xenarc.com for info but im getting an error saying that the mail address isnt working.

The only option i have at the moment is to order one from the US but i dont know if there is a vendor who will be able to supply it. Im trying to NOT get stung on tax here so one option is to have a friend buy it and have it shipped to his APO address in holland and then have him ship it to me.

Another question is... is the xenarc warranty on the item an international warranty?

Hi,

Be very careful about ordering expensive items from the US. I ordered this screen from MP3CAR at $779.00 (about £340) and when it hit UK shores, they stuck import tax and handling on top which came to about another £80!!

Now, the reason you can't get hold of this screen at the moment is because it has been withdrawn from sale temporarily as the first batch models were CRAP! Don't get me wrong, the specs are fantastic but the firmware and front end menus, etc.. are hideous. Honestly, it was like a pre-production unit got released without any testing by mistake. It really is that bad.

I have emailed Xenarc about customers who received this first batch, but have yet to get a response. I would like to return my unit and get a replacement when all the problems have been fixed. However, I don't want to get stung for:

a) Return to Xenarc postage (probably will have to pay)
b) Return back to me postage (don't think I should have to pay)
c) Import tax AGAIN (another £80)

Hopefully the technicians at Xenarc sort out the firmware and problems with this screen before they offer the unit for sale again. Also hopefully the units firmware is upgradeable by end users, although there is no mention of this in the manual.

If anybody from Xenarc or MP3car see this post, please let me know your thoughts.

I have a way to bypass tax as i have a buddy in the US army's IT department who works in holland. If he buys it and has it delivered to hi armed forces mailbox it is counted as being delivered to the mainland US. He then will pop it in the regular post which isnt checked for Tax as alll EU purchases contain tax.

I also got some additional info on the unit that was needed.

The part of the monitor that fits into the dash is approximately 6 ¾ inches deep. To allow room for the wires, you will need approximately 8 inches of depth.

Your email has been forwarded to our sales department to answer the question about UK resellers.

All monitors will need to be shipped back to our office in Santa Ana, CA, USA for repairs. We do not have any service locations.

I tracked it down to this company in the uk; I have rang them and they seem very helpful and knowledgable.

I'm waiting for them to tell me when they get stock in with the latest firmware as Xenarc have said it is not firmware flashable.

I have been able to get a friend who works for the US army in holland to order the screen for me directly to his Armed Forces mail address in holland. I am going to be seeing him at the end of the month so all should go well and ill avoid any nasty import taxes

On a side note. I ordered the screen from AVdeals.com/plasma.com who have had xenarc ship directly from their offices in santa ana in the states so hopefully it should be the 2nd generation batch. If it isnt then obviously im a little screwed but since i use the screen for music hosted off the machine there shouldnt be too much of an issue with the AM frequency going up in 10's as opposed to 9's.

Ill let you all know how it goes once its installed at the end of the month.

i've been looking for some xenarc screens myself, thought it was about time i tried something other than lilliput...

i believe www.carcomputer.co.uk are now taking preorders for a selection of xenarc monitors, mainly 7 inch monitors though. my mate rang them and they said they were taking preorders for a new shipment.
