very late reply, but in a good way. i guess.

bybyte has now came out with another frame made for the eby701 model sold today. and has detailed instructions on using that frame. looks like a winner. and its made from abs and not thin metal. i think i shall play guinne once again when i can afford the 30 bux

reviews will be posted of course. there is a main board difference from the model that thin metal one was made for and the new plastic one. the plastic one is made for the newer eby701's like mine.

This is an interesting product, but I'm kind of turned off by the high shipping price (to Canada) of the bybyte and also the fact that it uses sticky tape to hold the front of the screen.

Im wondering why not just buy a cheap universal double din dash trim kit such as this:

Then improvise a way to secure the LCD panel to the front?

if you dont have a 701, i can see how you wouldnt know. but if you do, it is pretty obvious that this is made specifically for the 701 and another model. it says and i quote

"Compatible with the new Lilliput EBY701 model 2008

and Lilliput 629GL"

i bought mine in 2007 so maybe it was sold as a 2008 model. but its the same as the one illistrated.

sorry about that, i do not have the new 2008 model but i bought mine in 06. i wasn't sure about the physical differences between the two but failed to mention it.

ah its cool. does your casing look like the one on the assembly instructions? if so, then this is go for you. if not, then that older (crappier) one will be the one.

How secure is the screen when it's in one of these housings?

I mean, could a theivin scumbag get the screen out of the dash? Or does it look like it's all supposed to be part of the dash?

Do people have problems with glare too?

that does go in like any other double din headunit. so if they know what they are doing, theyll get it. as with any other kind of mounting, theyll get it and tear everything else up to get it.
