    Rod,

    Are you using RR?

I don't seem to have the ilist functionality working when I use my Touchscreen - but when I was doing the setup with keyboard and mouse I could see the ilist functionality working.

If I click and hold with the mouse and flick the mouse I get the scrolling effect, but now when I use the Touchscreen.

    ANy ideas?

Its the scrolling effect when you touch the screen and flick your finger up or down to scan quickly through your song lists.

Looks like no one answered this question. Does this monitor have EDID?

From the Features list it says "Auto detects 800x480 resolution." Don't know if that means EDID or something else.

I'm looking at Inte's new motherboard DG45FC and G45 express chipset isn't yet supported by powerstrip. So, I'm trying to find something that will work with this mobo and give me 800x480.

    Any ideas out there?

It'll be so good to know that somewhere under all that blinding glare from the sun is a resolution properly identified by the graphics card.
I have too much time and too little aggravation in my life, so I built a carPC. ;)

Not sure if it is EDID but I am sure 800x480 will be detected if your video card can be configured into this mode. I have been using 800x600 as I don't have native support for 800x480. The monitor still remains sharp and clear. Any other monitor mode I set was detected by the Xenarc.

The bad news is that my monitor is dead and becasue I opened the case to get it into the dash, I have no warranty. The power switch won't work and the monitor is permanantly turned off. Xenarc have told me:

Usually, with a problem similar to yours, the main control board will need to be replaced. Cost to replace the control board is $140 + shipping. We ship by UPS, with shipping depending on weight of the package. Shipping (to Australia) will probably be about $70.

So I am not very happy down under at the moment. I will eventually get it repaired. after the Christmas/New Year holiday has taken its course.

    How did that Happen Rod?

Man sorry to hear that! That's terrible. Mine is looking just like yours, with the IR PCB exposed at the moment, and the back open - molded into the dash.

I called xenarc to inquire about a replacement housing, to replace my buttons that were thrown out and was told that sometime after the new year I should be able to order them.

    Thumbs down

Hi all, I've purchased this exact same monitor for my carpc, and figured I would post my experience so far.

To make a long story short, I am having (what I think are) power issues with my screen. The problem seems to get much worse in colder weather (0-17C). The LEDs on the 'button' board will light up, so I know it is getting power, but the screen itself does not turn on. I have checked all connections, and I know they are good. The only way to fix it is to unplug the power connector and plug it back in repeatedly. Sometimes it works after one power 'cycle' and sometimes it still won't turn on after many cycles (this usually occurs if it's especially cold out). This has happened so many times I can't even count.

I've got the PC and input box for the screen in my trunk, with the 17' extension cable going to the screen, which is mounted in my dash. Of course, like Rod, I had to take the screen out of the case to mount it, thus voiding my warranty.

Aside from this, I think the screen looks decent. I'm not familiar with any other screens, so have nothing to compare to. Everything works in linux, even 800x480 resolution, although it was a real pain to get the touchscreen calibrated. It is extremely bright, in fact too bright at night, even with the backlight on the lowest setting. I think that is a limitation of CCFL, though. Regardless, it looks great on a sunny day but I have to cover the screen up at night when I am driving.

Looks like I'll be hunting for a new screen. What a costly mistake... On the bright side (har har), I can make sure it is LED backlit this time, so I can turn the brightness way down at night.
