I'm also want the motorized touch setup, so when you try it out, if it fits, and the control board hides away out of sight, don't bother removing the touch panel, I'll buy it complete.
Hi Armen, happy new year to you!
Any idea on the arrival date of the test Xenarcs? I'm not hassling, just need to schedule project time!
Now away again til Monday 6th...
No problem at all, enjoy the monitorOriginally posted by ddt
Heh, I ordered one 2 or 3 weeks ago though. I'm not a traitor... just impatient. Plus I can actually use a carputer in my line of work. Trust me... it's a hell of a lot easier than driving with a keymap in my lap now!
It'll be even easier when I get a touch panel.
In case I didn't mention it before... thanks for having this done. You have done a lot for the scene just by doing this... and selling LCD's that won't break the bank is definatley cool too.
Having said that I do feel bad for not ordering from you now!![]()
. I used to be Driver myself so I know exactly what you talking about.
7" Touch Panel is too big for the DA-7169 Housing, it doesn't fit. I am sorry guys

I am finally done negotiating with the manufacturer about the kit and finally I can say that the order has been placed and money sent. It will probably be another week or so before I can start shipping your orders.
Language barrier has been the biggest problem I had during the negotiation phase of this project. After I posted all the info and prices about the kit, I learned about a “tooling charge”. It is a $1500 charge that is added to all custom orders, so if I need to change any of the sizes for the touch panel I have to pay the tooling charge.
Fortunately the 7” panel that they already made for another order fits perfectly in the TM-701L Housing (outside dimensions) and that is what I am ordering. This is the only way to avoid the tooling charge.
Problem: The only problem with this panel is that the Active area is a little bit bigger then the inside frame of the monitor. When the panel is installed the inside frame presses on the panel and the pointer stays in one place.
Solution: I used a spacer (cardboard frame .5mm thickness) between the housing and the touch panel and it works like a charm. Here are a few pics (click to enlarge):

Touch panel thickness is 1.1mm + Cardboard spacer thickness is .5mm so a total of ~1.6mm. The front half of the monitor housing has 2 tabs that hold the insides (LCD panel + controller) on top side of the housing, they needed to be adjusted (with a dremel) a little bit to fit an extra ~1.6mm. Here are a few pics of that (click to enlarge):

Guess which one has the panel installed:
These and other pictures can found Here. Let me know what you guys think.
Thanks,
Armen.
