Where to buy touch screen kits?

I've spent a few days searching here, and on Google for kits to turn non touch screens in to touch screens. I've been searching for touch kits and various other version of this to little avail. All the posts I've seen here about this topic are pretty old, and any links are usually no good any more. Where should I be looking to find these for sale. To be honest, an actual store that might sell these would be great, but internet stores work too. I've looked here:

    http://digitalww.com/store/proddetail.asp?prod=TS7K

but they're out of stock and I think that someone said it's been like that for a while.

I would need the whole thing, controller, drivers, cable, the touch screen itself lol, etc.

I'm thinking / hoping that this route will be much cheaper than getting an actual touch screen. Size wise i'm shooting for 7 inches, since i gather that this is pretty much the norm.

I've really excited about getting my carputer going, I just want to get this sort of stuff lined up before hand. Thanks for this awesome site, and thanks in advance for your help.

Thanks for your quick reply!!! Well, if the cost difference is negligible maybe I'd be best off to just go for the "real" touch screen. I'm sure it would be a lot less hassle in the long run. Time to start researching that more. Thanks for the links though, if I do go that route I just have to be sure that they'll ship to the US without breaking the bank. lol

    Thanks again!

There are lots of sources in the US too.

But that is the cheapest I have seen for all of them.

Usually the overlay is $40 or $50 and the controller is another $50 to $60. Since a 7" touchscreen is $180 it doesnt seem like the best idea.

Yeah, I'm thinking that the real touch screen is definatly the way to go. I would have been a little cross if i had dropped the money for the kit only to run across a touch screen for almost the same price lol. I guess that would be why most of the threads about this were from a few years ago, presumably when touch screens were a bit more expensive. Thanks again! I think you saved me on this one lol.

I ran across this thread, with these links:

Anyone know any other places to look for cheap screens? I know there's always ebay, but I'd rather not unless i'm really sure of what i'm doing. $162 for an 8 inch screen isn't bad at all though. Anyone used this model?

You can also try http://touchkit.com, yes its that easy, lol..... I have never bought from them, but they seem to have tons of diffrent types. They also have really good universal software (free) with multimonitor support. Seems to be very accurate. I have never ever had to calibrate.
