looking for high quality 7" in-dash VGA Touch-screen

    Hello,

I'm starting my car pc project, using a laptop as computer connected to a 7" in-dash VGA Touch-Screen.

First I'm looking for a very good VGA Touch-Screen.

I think the XENARC MDT-X7000 is probably the best on the market (correct me if I'm wrong) but the price of $700 is too much for me.
    $500 would be fine.

When comparing VGA Touch screens I think the most important things to look for are the Brightness/Contrast/dot resolution.
When these values are higher I think the Touch-Screen quality is better.

I think the 2nd best VGA Touch-Screen is the XENARC 700IDT
    Dot Resolution: 2400 x 480 = 1,152,000 (dots)
    LCD Brightness: 500 cd/mē
    Contrast Ratio: 400:1

    Unfortunatly it's not motorized.

    3'rd best, maybe the CID700M http://www.cartft.com/catalog/il/730
    Dot Resolution: 2400x480= 1,152,000 dots
    Brightness: 400
Contrast: n/a (couldn't find info on it anywhere)
(looks quite much like this one http://cgi.ebay.com/7-TFT-IN-DASH-DI...QQcmdZViewItem
wich has contrast: 400:1 and brightness: 450

    Wich also isn't motorized

    Any other Idea's?

    Here are the threads...

    http://www.mp3car.com/vbulletin/lcd-...lity-help.html

    and

    http://www.mp3car.com/vbulletin/gene...nice-sale.html

They even got mad at me for trying to poll some screens... I just wanted reviews.. i wasn't selling anything. I also knew a guy that sold some and wanted to sell me a screen. But, i didn't know anything about the screen and wanted to know how much everyone else would pay for it so i would know how much to pay... they got real mad.. even insisted on calling me and even fining me .

But hopefully these FEW answers from a FEW members will help..

EVEN BETTER HOPEFULLY THIS ONE WILL CATCH ON AND PEOPLE WILL SHARE THEIR CHEAP BUT GREAT SCREEN REVIEWS HERE >>> lol

    P.s.

I have nothing against MP3Car, I think its a great community and moderating the community from mass marketing is great.... but when someone wants reviews and opinions on prices and how much people would pay.. it is hard to separate whether its just a question or if its someone trying to get marketing strategies...

    i guess I understand..??

Oh i haven't got my screens up and running yet, (still in fabrication) , But I think my (mainstream brand) lilliput is gonna work great and Zenarc is supposed to be nice too. I have been extremely interested in ELO ... they are the screens you see at kodak kiosks.. i bought 2 15'' at $115 a piece.. they have glass protective screens too.. i'm interested in seeing how well they work.. we'll find out soon!

    Thanks for your reply's 1000101!!!

Ok so motorized could give more trouble, but looks way better.
I now have a cheap din size motorized tft screen wich somtimes does'n pop out of it's din (Maybe becource it's to hot after when it has been standing in the sun) and I think that the motor works a little slower then it used to do when I just bought it.

    So Non-motorized=less trouble.

I also searched google for some reviews but couldn find much (only some notes that buyers left on the site where they got it from).

But is it true when looking for a high quality display you have to look at these things:
    Contrast,
    Brightness,
    Dot Resolution,

When these things are higer it means better overall performance?

    I think so.

I still can't decide between the Xenarch CID700M, and the CID700M from the german ebay site.
The Xenarch 700IDT is probably better becourse it has AISS - Advanced Image-Scaling and Shaping (wich they are saying, I haven't seen it).
But it's also $100 more expencive and I don't know if that's worth it.

    please more comments

Well also.. the daylight readable screens that lilliput, and i think zenarc are putting out are great.. also the ELO's are really nice, and I can get 15'' glass front ones for around $220.. ELO is what most of the military uses
