Lilliput629 random shutdowns. cable length the culprit?

It's happened with 2 screens so far, both Lilliputs. The machine stays on but the touchscreen and screen itself both shut off seemingly at random times, like today on the way to work. Last time it happened it later went on again by itself a few days later.

I have both a USB and Monitor plug extensions coming from the screen to the machine in the trunk, could the wires be too long [8+'] and that's why they are shutting off [or is that a dumb question?]? Or could it just be a loose wire somewhere? Even after checking all the plugs everything seems to be plugged in correctly.

Is this a known issue or did I screw something up?
    Please help me, it's frustrating!

Also, its not a windows settings I know that. It stays off even on reboot. Pretend you unplugged the 9pin connector on the back of the screen and that's whats happening. So power is still going to the screen, just not the VGA or USB connections are.

the maximum length of a USB cable (according to the spec) is 15 ft, so it shouldn't be a length problem. I'm pretty sure VGA cables can be even longer than that.

The most surefire way to troubleshoot this is to plug the screen directly into the computer, without the extensions. That way you can narrow down the source of your problem.

I have a 629, too, and I'm also planning on using USB and VGA extensions to get signal to the carputer in the trunk - so I'm very interested in what you find out about this problem.

I have 15' of vga extension cable and 15' of active usb cable, never had any problem with the lili.
It might be defective cable, I would try what Stealth915 said, connect the monitor directly to computer.
