ah, i see, well a few of your points put my mind at ease and a few bother me.

the screen retracting lag may be a big problem considering my car's a manual and the radio is only 6 or 7 inches above my shift knob.

i seriously serioulsy doubt i'll hear the fan over my engine, it's 400 hp with an aftermarket exhaust system... you have to speak very loudly to hear people talking when you're idling as it is and on the road... haha, no, it'll be fine.

volume dials, i trust you're right

remote i wasn't ever going to use and i'm still not... so... whatever

power on lag isn't too bad compared to my current system, i have to plug the xm in and unplug it every time and it takes about 30 seconds to turn on and another 30 to pick up a signal so no real difference i guess.

pc power i was never going to use either because it'll be running off a laptop anyway, most likely i'll wire that to a switch to activate the charger or deactivate it, if anything.

but thank you, i think i've found ways to deal with the problems but we'll know for sure in a few days.

Yeah, I 'dealt' with the problems for almost a year and then, when the touchscreen didn't come on for the umpteenth time, I said '**** it' and I ordered a Lilliput EBY-701 with transflective and LED backlighting. It's very, very nice :-)

So you've got a ricer exhaust? That sucks, those are so stupid. The point of an exhaust system is to quietly remove the leftovers from the engine, not to rumble and sound dumb. If you want a loud engine, why not drive a diesel bus? *end rant*

ouch. no, there's no resonator, it muffles maybe 50% of the sound the engine produces (it's a 5.7L V8 LS1 Corvette engine, nothing rice about it) but i would have a god damn muffler if it weren't for the state of virginia's laws.

    Hi,

I like the Lilliput. It's very crisp and boots up immediately, and doesn't screw around when it comes to the touchscreen. The only problem I've been having is trying to get it mounted into my dash in a way that still gives me access to all my other stuff

    Thanks for the kind words!

Good to know you finally did get something ur happy with m8!

But I was a bit surprised, how did u go from a single-DIN to no-DIN display? (err.. that's what the Lilliput is rite? Unless I've been looking up the wrong Lilliput...) I kinda like the idea of having a lot of space left over to play with, (basically stick in more stuff in the leftover gaping hole that there will be! lol!)

Oh, btw, staying on that topic, I came across this other thread that had a Russian-made/sold 1/2 DIN that looks a lil too tempting - the lcd AND the babe on da display! Lol! Although my doubts that everything in it, menu, et al would be in Russian too is keeping me from looking at it too seriously!

Check this: 1/2 din motorized vga touchscreen monitor

And yea, kind words are for usin... And u deserve it if u know the amount of regret u saved me! ;-)

Actually, the one I got is about 2.5 DIN, which is a bit too big to fit comfortably. So I've been trying to figure a way to make it fit.

Xenarc must have fixed a whole bunch of issues with a new batch of these monitors. I bought one on ebay and the manufacturing stamp indicates it was built in Jan/09.

I only use the screen purely for the Screen/Touchscreen purposes. I can not comment on the radio or DVD functions as I have not tried it out yet. This monitor replaces my old DWW-700M which I was using since it first came out.

My Car/System Specs are as follows:
2005 RSX Type S w/ Type R header and stock muffler...pretty much stock "loudness"
    Intel D945GCLF2
    Soundblaster External
    Seagate Momentus G-FORCE 320GB

Touchscreen: Does not disconnect at random. There is a lag time from when windows boots up when the touchscreen is useable (about 5-10 seconds). This is booting from hibernation.

    Long Startup Time:
No issues here. The Xenarc splash screen shows up for about a few seconds and it right away goes directly to the VGA video input. There's plenty of time between the splash screen and windows finishes going out of hibernation.

Screen Internal Fan: I can't hear it over the general car noise at idle. If i turn off the engine, I can hear a soft whine in the dash and in the trunk (where my carputer sits). It's not loud or annoying at all.

Gear Noises:Nothing out of the ordinary for a indash screen. My old DWW-700M was much louder.

On a side note I was able to run the screen in 800X480 using the Intel Integrated Graphics drivers and PowerStrip.

Overall I give the screen a solid 7.5/10 because of the quirks with touchscreen boot up lag.
