Do you see the video input OSD, i.e. Video or PC when it comes back?
Could be a power issue.

nope it just goes off then back on. all the connections are good though. forgot to add, touchscreen still works when it goes off.

Did you have it apart? Or is it still complete?
Could be just the back lighting going out...

yea i took out the shell and its just the board behind the lcd.

Is the LCD sitting on top of the board? i.e. when you touch the screen, is it pressing against the board?
Sounds like your shorting something out when you press it. Make sure the board is secured to the back and do NOT lay it down on it's back.

lcd is in the car facing the backseats (obviously lol) and the board is vertically behind it.

Gotta be the backlighting...
Probably a high-voltage inverter on there powering it, and it's getting shorted out.
They take a second or two to power up, so it sounds like this is your issue.

Look for something touching something that isn't s'pose to be touched!

You'll see a transformer with a high-voltage warning sticker on it...
I'd re-seat the PCB board with double sided tape...all 4 corners. Lift it up, off the screen.
