    Smile MiMo UM-Series USB Screens

Anyone seen these MiMo UM-Series USB screens? They have them on pre-order now from: http://www.thegadgeteers.com. They come in three different flavors: UM-710 (basic screen), UM-730 (+ webcam & speakers), UM-740 (+ touchscreen). The prices seem to be pretty good with the top model UM-740 coming in for $190.00

I like the idea, but i'll wait until someone else purchases one and does a review

My concern is how good the video quality will be and the resolution options. Do they have auto on feature? Do they support auto back up cam?

that would have to be through the computer, and the auto on, i assume theres a way to do it, vid quality will be excelent, the unboxing said the video quality was amazing,

it wont be a fps monitor becuase of the response time, but good enough for movies and i guess has a better chance of being daylight readable.

my problem before was paying 250 $ for a screen that looked cheap when i can go get a samsung 22 for the same price.

Its pointless to buy a screen that isnt touch screen, also the $129.00 screen only works as a secondary monitor, you cant use it as a primary screen.

Also, fullscreen video playback will be CPU intensive, since there won't be any hardware acceleration.

Also, I suppose it could be used as a primary display, you just won't get any video on it until Windows boots up. You won't see the BIOS POST screen, and maybe not the Windows loading screen either. This might be a problem if there's a problem booting, or a BSOD. But day-to-day operation should be okay, I would think.

It is not pointless to buy a 7" monitor that isn't touchscreen. For one, it would be useful as a second monitor for the back seat to watch movies. Second, you can buy touchscreen kits for $40, and convert any 7" monitor to a touchscreen.

Max, let us know how the testing goes!
